Our groups from the Intensive French course took some time out from the classroom on Thursday to visit the Musée Alpin in Chamonix. The beginner group had a scavenger hunt around Chamonix with questions to answer and puzzles to solve around the town with their guide from the museum. They were taken to the famous mural on the wall outside Snell Sports in the centre of Chamonix. The mural depicts all the famous historical faces of Chamonix including explorers, scientists, female and male adventurers who made Chamonix famous in the Alpine world.
The 2 intermediate groups had a question sheet to answer when viewing the sights around the museum. The Musée Alpin contains historical objects and artefacts from Chamonix town. Vintage sports equipment from both summer and winter sports in the valley are represented at the museum. The rapid growth of tourism and the development of hotels in the area are also a focus of the history of Chamonix.
Here are some pictures of the groups at the Musée Alpin.
