Welcome Journal – Chamonix-Mont-Blanc FWT17… par FreerideWorldTourTV
Last weekend the Freeride World tour was set to open its competitions in Chamonix Mont-Blanc. Unfortunately the event has now been rescheduled to take place in Vallnord-Arcalis, Andorra. This decision was made following an assessment of the conditions by local guides and the event organisers. It was agreed that due to safety concerns it would be best for the 52 competitors to postpone the competiton from 9-16 February.
FWT guides attempted to locate a competition face outside of the ski areas on a very remote venue only accessible by foot. Despite a sufficient quantity of snow in the region, strong winds have eliminated every possible option for a competition on an out-of-bounds venue in safe snow conditions in the Mont Blanc Valley as well as potential neighbouring venues.”
Despite this minor set back and the rescheduling of the competitions, the rest of the organised events continued. These events included live music, après ski activities and ski and snowboard tests which all took place in the centre of Chamonix town.
Here are some photographs from the FWT website of the athletes who attended a safety workshop over the weekend instead of riding!
